Was in a cafe in Bangkok when I saw this fantastic picture on the wall.
The text says 'Queen of Nagas, seized by the American Army, Mekong River at Laos military base, June 27th 1973, with a length of 7.80 metres'.
The Nagas has lots of mythology attached to it, primarily that they are serpent beings that dwell in waterways and underground locations.
Apparently there are some doubts over whether the photo is genuine or not, but when you consider some of the other huge creatures that have been pulled from the Mekong, like this monstrous Mekong catfish (above) which was caught in Thailand, weighing in at 293 kilos, as big as a grizzly bear, or this massive 265 pound carp (120kg) below, you have to say, it is completely believable that something as big as the Queen of Nagas is swimming around in the Mekong waters.....

Yes, I've seen that picture all over the place and I'm sure it must be a fake.
Even so the real fish are big enough!

Hello Andrew, indeed, it is widely touted as a fake, but, there are such big fish known to be swimming around in the Mekong.... Maybe even bigger than the infamous Nagas....!
